About Railway Hotel - West Horndon
A village pub located in the heart of the community
John Murphy and Susan George reopened the doors of the Railway Hotel in August 2012 following a lengthy period of restoration. This village pub had undergone a complete transformation, with extensive works being carried out both inside and out, thus offering patrons relaxation on their doorstep.
The modifications were designed to provide all the warmth and cosiness of a traditional village pub alongside all the modern creature comforts that you would hope for. All the renovations have been carried out to be sympathetic towards the age and feel of the building, whilst still feeling fresh and modern – hopefully catering for everyone!
Location & Community Spirit
Catering for everyone is certainly the Railway Hotel’s motto. Located right in the centre of the village, pub manager Terry Mansfield is keen to make sure that both locals and all other visitors feel welcome. John, Susan and Terry are keen for the pub to continue being the hub of village life once again and are doing everything possible to keeping the Railway Hotel involved in community life. With village pubs closing fast and frequently, they are determined to make sure that the residents of West Horndon always have somewhere to come together and have a friendly chat over a pint - just like the old days!
